An International Recognition for a Personal Vision
Being recognized as an award-winning photographer on an international stage is always meaningful — but when the award comes from Paris, and from a jury made up of some of the most respected names in the photography world, it carries a different weight.
In 2017, Miami-based award-winning photographer and director Mauricio Candela received Second Prize at PX3 — Prix de la Photographie Paris — in the Book (Series Only) category, for his personal project Nostalgia. The entry was selected from thousands of submissions representing photographers from over 85 countries worldwide.
Nostalgia: The Fine Art Series Behind the Award Winning Photographer
Nostalgia is a fine art photography series that captures the simple, fleeting moments of childhood — roller skates, kites, stilts, drums, and slingshots. Images that feel like a memory before they're even taken.
The series reflects a side of Mauricio's work that goes beyond commercial and advertising photography — a deeply personal vision rooted in emotion, storytelling, and the beauty of ordinary life. For an award-winning photographer whose career spans lifestyle, celebrities, sports, and conceptual advertising campaigns, Nostalgia is a reminder that the most powerful images often come from the simplest truths.
